Electric Supplier
Orrville Utilities serves Orrville and Eastern Wayne County. OU has
generating capacity of 68 megawatts with a reserve capacity of 20%. An
inter-tie with American Electric Power through two substations gives Orrville
a backup power supply in case of emergencies. OU is a Public Power
Utility with electric
rates among the lowest in Ohio. As a Public Power
Utility, OU is community-owned
and operated at not-for-profit rates.
Natural Gas Supplier
Dominion East
Ohio Gas supplies most of the natural gas to Orrville and the
surrounding areas. The Orrville Industrial Park is also served by the
North East Ohio Gas Company.
Telephone Service
Embarq/Sprint is the major provider of local telephone services in the Orrville
area.
Technical Services
The current communication network in place by Orrville
Utilities consists
of a 13-mile, fiber optic backbone with a combination of 36, 48, and 60 strands
of fiber. This backbone links schools, local government, utility offices,
and commercial sites within the City of Orrville.
Water Department of Orrville Utilities
The Orrville Utilities new water treatment facility has a current capacity
of 3.9 MGD with current usage of 1.8 MGD.
The Wastewater Department of Orrville Utilities
Orrville Utilities, Department of Wastewater, has a current 3.2 MGD maximum
hydraulic water treatment capacity with current usage of 2.2 MGD.
